Data guides
Amazon Redshift: see how much data you have, then export it.
Pick a system to see two things: how to check how much data is in it, and how to export a copy. No form, no sign-in.

How to see how much data is in Amazon Redshift
- Sign in to the AWS console and open Amazon Redshift
- Serverless: choose Namespace configuration, select the namespace and note Storage used and Total table count
- Provisioned cluster: open the cluster and check its storage used, or query SVV_TABLE_INFO and sum size (1 MB blocks)
- Note the total per database
Record storage used; SVV_TABLE_INFO counts only user tables with rows, so it is a little under the true total.
Amazon Redshift’s official instructions
How to get a copy of your Amazon Redshift data
- Have a database user with SELECT rights and an IAM role connect
- Choose an Amazon S3 bucket for the files
- Run UNLOAD with your SELECT query, the S3 path and the IAM role
- Add options such as CSV or PARQUET format and HEADER
- Download or copy the files from S3
A database user with SELECT rights and an IAM role runs the UNLOAD command to write query results to Amazon S3 as text, CSV, JSON or Parquet files.
UNLOAD writes many files into an S3 bucket in your AWS account by default, so plan where the files go and who can access them.
These instructions are written by DataFrenzy from each vendor’s public help pages. Menu names can vary by plan and change over time; the official link on each guide is the final word. Screenshots come from each vendor’s own help pages and videos or, where noted, from third-party tutorials credited under the image; dashed outlines are illustrations, not screenshots. Looking up a size or preparing an export never sends anything to DataFrenzy.
