How to see how much data is in Clio
- Sign in to Clio Manage as an admin
- Open Matters, set the filter to All (open and closed), and note how many matters you have
- Open Contacts and note the total
- Open Documents and note the number of documents per matter for a few typical matters
Clio does not show account-wide storage used; record matter, contact and document counts.
How to get a copy of your Clio data
- Sign in as an administrator
- Open the Exports page
- Request the Excel-ready CSV files you need (contacts, matters, notes, time entries)
- For balances, go to Reports → Accounts receivable and choose CSV
- Download the files
Administrators can open the Exports page to request Excel-ready CSV files of contacts, matters, notes, tasks, calendar and time entries. Balances come from Reports → Accounts receivable with CSV output.
Documents and trust balances need separate handling, and client files may be privileged.
These instructions are written by DataFrenzy from each vendor’s public help pages. Menu names can vary by plan and change over time; the official link on each guide is the final word. Screenshots come from each vendor’s own help pages and videos or, where noted, from third-party tutorials credited under the image; dashed outlines are illustrations, not screenshots. Looking up a size or preparing an export never sends anything to DataFrenzy.
