How to see how much data is in Confluence

  1. Sign in to Atlassian Administration (admin.atlassian.com) as a Confluence admin and select your organization
  2. Select the site's name and URL (or, with centralized user management, select Apps and then the site)
  3. Under Site settings, select Storage
  4. Note the storage used for Confluence

Record Confluence's storage used; it is mainly attachments and only updates every 4 hours.

How to get a copy of your Confluence data

  1. Click the wheel icon at the top right to open Confluence administration
  2. Go to Settings → Data management → Backup manager
  3. Tick Backup attachments
  4. Click Create backup for cloud and wait for it to finish
  5. Click the backup file link to download it (link lasts 14 days)

Site administrators can export spaces (XML, HTML, or PDF) or a full site backup from Confluence administration.

Attachments are included in XML and site backups but not always in PDF exports.

Confluence’s official export instructions

These instructions are written by DataFrenzy from each vendor’s public help pages. Menu names can vary by plan and change over time; the official link on each guide is the final word. Screenshots come from each vendor’s own help pages and videos or, where noted, from third-party tutorials credited under the image; dashed outlines are illustrations, not screenshots. Looking up a size or preparing an export never sends anything to DataFrenzy.
