How to see how much data is in Microfiche

  1. Count microfiche cards or film reels
  2. Note what records and years they cover
  3. Note whether you have access to a reader or scanner

Record number of cards or reels and years covered.

How to get a copy of your Microfiche data

  1. Locate the microfiche cards and any index that comes with them
  2. Count the cards and note the date range and topics they cover
  3. Use a microfiche scanner or a scanning service to convert them to PDF or image files
  4. Save the files with names that match the card labels, and keep the originals

Microfiche needs a specialist to digitize; describe the number of sheets or drawers.

Nothing is transferred at this stage; describe what exists.

These instructions are written by DataFrenzy from each vendor’s public help pages. Menu names can vary by plan and change over time; the official link on each guide is the final word. Screenshots come from each vendor’s own help pages and videos or, where noted, from third-party tutorials credited under the image; dashed outlines are illustrations, not screenshots. Looking up a size or preparing an export never sends anything to DataFrenzy.
