How to see how much data is in Shopify

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Products → Export, choose All products and click Export products
  2. Go to Customers → Export, select All customers and click Export customers
  3. Go to Orders → Export, choose the option that covers all orders, select CSV and click Export orders
  4. Open the emailed CSV files and add their file sizes together

Record the combined CSV size; product images are not included in the CSV, and gift card codes, discount codes and financial data are exported separately.

Shopify’s official export instructions

These instructions are written by DataFrenzy from each vendor’s public help pages. Menu names can vary by plan and change over time; the official link on each guide is the final word. Screenshots come from each vendor’s own help pages and videos or, where noted, from third-party tutorials credited under the image; dashed outlines are illustrations, not screenshots. Looking up a size or preparing an export never sends anything to DataFrenzy.
