How to see how much data is in Todoist

  1. Open Todoist on the web or desktop app
  2. Click your avatar → Settings → Sidebar
  3. Turn on Show the task count
  4. Note the active task count next to each project in the sidebar and add them up

There is no storage page; record the number of active projects and tasks (completed tasks and archived projects are not in these counts).

How to get a copy of your Todoist data

  1. Open Todoist on the web or desktop app
  2. Click your avatar → Settings
  3. Open the Backups tab
  4. Click Create Backup for a fresh copy, or pick an existing one
  5. Click Download to save the ZIP

On Pro or Business plans, go to avatar → Settings → Backups and click Download next to a backup. You get a ZIP with one CSV per active project.

Backups leave out completed tasks and archived projects. Attachments appear only as links.

Todoist’s official export instructions

These instructions are written by DataFrenzy from each vendor’s public help pages. Menu names can vary by plan and change over time; the official link on each guide is the final word. Screenshots come from each vendor’s own help pages and videos or, where noted, from third-party tutorials credited under the image; dashed outlines are illustrations, not screenshots. Looking up a size or preparing an export never sends anything to DataFrenzy.
