How to see how much data is in TriNet

  1. Sign in to the TriNet platform as an admin
  2. Open Reports → Workforce Analytics
  3. Run an employee listing (census) report that includes terminated employees
  4. Note the employee count and how many years of payroll history exist

Record employee count and years of payroll history; TriNet shows no storage figure, and Workforce Analytics may need an administrator role.

How to get a copy of your TriNet data

  1. Sign in as an admin
  2. Open Reports & Analytics
  3. Pick a standard report or build one in Report Builder
  4. Set filters and run it
  5. Export as PDF, Excel or CSV

Admins can export or schedule reports from Reports & Analytics in PDF, Excel and CSV formats. These include payroll register and general ledger reports.

TriNet is a PEO, so some records, such as benefits and tax filings, may sit with TriNet and need a support request.

TriNet’s official export instructions

These instructions are written by DataFrenzy from each vendor’s public help pages. Menu names can vary by plan and change over time; the official link on each guide is the final word. Screenshots come from each vendor’s own help pages and videos or, where noted, from third-party tutorials credited under the image; dashed outlines are illustrations, not screenshots. Looking up a size or preparing an export never sends anything to DataFrenzy.
